Based in Glasgow, UK, pianist Silviya Mihaylova is an active performer, chamber musician, and educator. She is the pianist for Sound Collective Scotland, accompanist for the Glasgow Philharmonic Male Voice Choir, and a piano lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, both in their Junior and Senior Departments. Originally from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Silviya studied at the National School for Music and Dance “Dobrin Petkov” with Rositza Ivancheva, and later completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance at RCS under Prof. Fali Pavri. Silviya gave her solo recital debut at 14 and has since performed across three continents. She is the recipient of prizes from national and international competitions and honour prizes, including NSMDA Award, the Penka Popova Prize and the Vesselin Stoyanov Special Prize.
As one of the youngest artists accepted into Live Music Now Scotland, where she performed for a decade and later served as an audition panel member. Silviya is a passionate and sought-after educator. Her students at RCS frequently earn top prizes at competitions and go on to study at prestigious institutions across the UK. She has taught at the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation (Mumbai) and maintains a private piano and music theory class for nearly twenty years. Her cross-art collaborations include the films Touches Bloquées and Rositza’s Girl, literary contributions to One Life Next to the Piano and Scottish by Inclination, the premiere of 7th Voyage by Simon Van der Walt, and performances with contemporary dancers exploring works by Piazzolla, Pasieczny, Schumann, and Bernstein.
